1
00:00:02,425 --> 00:00:04,734
LORNE: A mystical pregnancy
right under my beak?
2
00:00:05,185 --> 00:00:06,504
[GRUNTS]
3
00:00:09,425 --> 00:00:10,858
GUNN:
You're a Power that was?
4
00:00:11,065 --> 00:00:12,657
ANGEL:
We've all been saved.
5
00:00:13,625 --> 00:00:15,217
Hello.
6
00:00:15,905 --> 00:00:17,179
Bless you all for coming.
7
00:00:17,345 --> 00:00:20,781
I scrubbed the other one till my
fingers bled, but I couldn't get out the...
8
00:00:20,945 --> 00:00:22,617
- Fred?
- Blood.
9
00:00:22,785 --> 00:00:24,741
I can't believe Fred's evil.
10
00:00:24,905 --> 00:00:26,258
I'm so sorry.
11
00:00:27,065 --> 00:00:28,783
FRED:
Jasmine's blood...
12
00:00:28,945 --> 00:00:31,937
... somehow it breaks her spell
when it mingles with ours.
13
00:00:32,105 --> 00:00:33,777
Fred infected Angel. He's gone.
14
00:00:34,145 --> 00:00:37,103
We have to help the others.
We need more of Jasmine's blood.
15
00:00:37,265 --> 00:00:39,574
FRED: He figured since Cordy
gave birth to Jasmine...
16
00:00:39,745 --> 00:00:42,862
... they might share a blood link
as well as a mystical one.
17
00:00:43,025 --> 00:00:44,902
What are you doing to the...?
18
00:00:45,065 --> 00:00:47,499
WESLEY: Your wrist, you've cut it.
What happened to you?
19
00:00:47,665 --> 00:00:50,225
ANGEL: We hoped Cordy's blood
would have the same effect...
20
00:00:50,385 --> 00:00:51,943
...when we exposed you to it.
21
00:00:52,105 --> 00:00:54,573
- Thanks for nothing.
- I'm not leaving this hotel...
22
00:00:54,745 --> 00:00:56,383
...without my son.
- Hey.
23
00:00:58,585 --> 00:00:59,984
[YELLS]
24
00:01:01,065 --> 00:01:02,783
You're back with us now, Connor.
25
00:01:04,265 --> 00:01:07,143
They're here!
Come quick, they're here!
26
00:01:08,945 --> 00:01:10,537
Connor, you have to listen to us.
27
00:01:10,705 --> 00:01:13,139
Listen to you?
You're the ones who lie, who hate.
28
00:01:13,305 --> 00:01:14,897
- No...
- Jasmine's controlling you...
29
00:01:15,065 --> 00:01:17,181
...controlling your feelings.
- You're wrong...
30
00:01:17,345 --> 00:01:20,178
...about me, about her. Everything.
31
00:01:21,545 --> 00:01:23,900
But it doesn't matter
anymore what you say.
32
00:01:24,225 --> 00:01:26,898
We're going to tear you apart.
33
00:01:29,985 --> 00:01:33,944
Run! Get to the car.
Get out of here. I'll hold them off.
34
00:01:34,105 --> 00:01:37,063
Someone who knows the truth has
to live through this.
35
00:01:37,785 --> 00:01:40,140
- Go!
- Come on.
36
00:01:48,265 --> 00:01:52,053
CONNOR: I'm finally part of something.
I belong.
37
00:01:54,265 --> 00:01:55,983
I won't let anyone ruin that.
38
00:01:56,185 --> 00:01:57,538
[GRUNTS]
39
00:01:57,705 --> 00:01:58,979
I know, son.
40
00:02:15,985 --> 00:02:18,101
This is wrong.
There has to be a way we could...
41
00:02:18,265 --> 00:02:19,983
We could cut the power
as a diversion.
42
00:02:20,145 --> 00:02:23,660
She has hundreds of followers in there
acting with a single, focused will.
43
00:02:23,825 --> 00:02:25,816
We can't risk going against that.
44
00:02:26,145 --> 00:02:27,419
Not now. Someone...
45
00:02:35,025 --> 00:02:36,299
ANGEL:
Drive.
46
00:02:36,465 --> 00:02:39,662
- We can't just leave him. He's your...
- I know what he is. Wes, drive.
47
00:03:10,185 --> 00:03:12,016
Sacrifice
48
00:03:55,945 --> 00:03:57,264
[WOMAN SPEAKING
OVER RADIO]
49
00:03:57,465 --> 00:04:00,025
And in an impromptu speech today,
the mayor...
50
00:04:00,185 --> 00:04:01,937
I really love that guy, don 't you?
51
00:04:02,105 --> 00:04:05,654
The mayor declared Los Angeles
the First Citadel of Jasmine...
52
00:04:05,825 --> 00:04:10,216
... a cradle of civilization which will
usher in a new age for all humanity.
53
00:04:10,385 --> 00:04:14,424
In related news, the L.A. Archdiocese
has stated to the press...
54
00:04:14,585 --> 00:04:17,304
... that it will remove all false idols
from its churches...
55
00:04:17,465 --> 00:04:21,174
... replacing them with images
of She Who Walks Among Us.
56
00:04:21,345 --> 00:04:23,222
Way to go, Catholic Church.
57
00:04:23,545 --> 00:04:26,378
Well, talk about media bias.
58
00:04:26,545 --> 00:04:30,663
Not that I want to talk about media bias.
Seems rather moot right now.
59
00:04:30,825 --> 00:04:32,543
Speaking of moot, what about us?
60
00:04:32,705 --> 00:04:35,697
Anyone else feel like
the last feisty wife in Stepford?
61
00:04:35,905 --> 00:04:38,658
What are we gonna do?
What can we do?
62
00:04:38,825 --> 00:04:40,304
There has to be an answer.
63
00:04:40,465 --> 00:04:42,057
There has to be a way.
We need time.
64
00:04:42,225 --> 00:04:44,455
To hell with that.
We need a damn break.
65
00:04:44,665 --> 00:04:48,260
But the universe don't seem to be
handing breaks out to underdogs lately.
66
00:04:48,425 --> 00:04:51,303
No leads, no database,
no weapons, no shelter.
67
00:04:51,505 --> 00:04:52,779
Very little gas.
68
00:04:53,065 --> 00:04:56,102
We should have taken Connor with us.
He looks...
69
00:04:56,425 --> 00:04:58,655
What if he doesn't wake up?
70
00:04:59,625 --> 00:05:01,661
What if we took him and he did?
71
00:05:07,465 --> 00:05:10,741
JASMINE:
Thank you. Now, please come to me.
72
00:05:30,585 --> 00:05:31,904
Connor...
73
00:05:32,625 --> 00:05:33,978
...you're awake.
74
00:05:36,065 --> 00:05:37,384
You're...
75
00:05:39,385 --> 00:05:40,898
...indescribable.
76
00:05:41,585 --> 00:05:43,064
I know.
77
00:05:57,385 --> 00:05:59,501
They tried to turn me against you.
78
00:06:00,745 --> 00:06:04,294
They cut me.
Rubbed blood into the wound.
79
00:06:04,465 --> 00:06:07,502
The hateful always have one
or two wretched tricks to play.
80
00:06:10,505 --> 00:06:14,464
You must rest now.
We have nothing to fear from them.
81
00:06:14,625 --> 00:06:17,093
They are alone.
We are many.
82
00:06:17,625 --> 00:06:20,014
But Gunn
and Wesley and Lorne.
83
00:06:20,625 --> 00:06:22,183
They've all been turned.
84
00:06:22,345 --> 00:06:25,576
- We have to stop whatever they're...
- We will.
85
00:06:26,065 --> 00:06:29,660
Connor, there's
nothing they can do.
86
00:06:30,265 --> 00:06:34,178
Every moment that passes,
I grow closer to my followers.
87
00:06:34,905 --> 00:06:38,341
I feel what they feel,
I see what they see.
88
00:06:39,705 --> 00:06:42,697
We're fusing together
like the cells of a single body.
89
00:06:43,705 --> 00:06:47,015
They're my eyes,
my skin, my limbs...
90
00:06:47,185 --> 00:06:49,016
...and if need be...
91
00:06:49,185 --> 00:06:51,255
...my fists.
92
00:07:11,385 --> 00:07:13,819
[SPEAKING INDISTINCTLY]
93
00:07:17,345 --> 00:07:21,702
- I don't know. It's a lot of pod people.
- It's better than the last three places.
94
00:07:21,865 --> 00:07:24,060
We won't make it out
of the city without gas.
95
00:07:24,265 --> 00:07:26,335
So that's our big plan?
Just keep running?
96
00:07:26,505 --> 00:07:28,018
I hear good things about Belize.
97
00:07:28,225 --> 00:07:31,661
If we could get out of the sphere
of her influence, we could warn people...
98
00:07:31,825 --> 00:07:33,497
...prepare some form of resistance.
99
00:07:33,665 --> 00:07:36,099
Look at them. They're all so happy.
100
00:07:36,265 --> 00:07:40,099
Yeah, they'll be happier when they're
gouging out our eyes and stomping us.
101
00:07:40,425 --> 00:07:43,497
- That's why we have to do this fast.
- Fast works for me.
102
00:07:43,785 --> 00:07:45,935
Gunn, they're just under her spell.
103
00:07:46,105 --> 00:07:48,824
But if it does come down
to a choice between us or them...
104
00:07:48,985 --> 00:07:50,816
Believe me, I'm there.
105
00:07:56,025 --> 00:07:58,061
Sorry, bro, it's for your own good.
106
00:08:00,185 --> 00:08:03,495
That's right. It's the big bad
Free Will Gang gassing up.
107
00:08:03,665 --> 00:08:05,303
ANGEL:
We don't wanna hurt anybody.
108
00:08:05,585 --> 00:08:08,383
JASMINE'S VOICE: But you are
hurting them, Angel, just by being.
109
00:08:09,185 --> 00:08:11,062
Okay, that's new.
110
00:08:11,345 --> 00:08:14,655
You're a disease in the body Jasmine,
and you'll be purged.
111
00:08:17,865 --> 00:08:19,583
Soccer mom, 12:00!
112
00:08:23,265 --> 00:08:24,584
[SPEAKING IN
JASMINE'S VOICE]
113
00:08:24,745 --> 00:08:27,782
You can't outrun my love.
It has wings made of radio.
114
00:08:31,345 --> 00:08:32,664
[SPEAKING IN
JASMINE'S VOICE]
115
00:08:32,865 --> 00:08:36,904
My love sings over the wires
that bind this world.
116
00:08:37,345 --> 00:08:39,301
Okay, getting a little creepy.
117
00:08:39,465 --> 00:08:42,741
JASMINE'S VOICE: The city is mine,
vampire. All its tools are mine.
118
00:08:42,905 --> 00:08:44,543
Yeah, we're working on that.
119
00:08:44,705 --> 00:08:46,980
Okay, pit stop's over. Let's go.
120
00:08:49,265 --> 00:08:51,381
No snacks? I thought snacks were...
121
00:08:54,505 --> 00:08:56,496
[SIRENS WAILING]
122
00:09:01,665 --> 00:09:04,463
[JASMINE LAUGHING]
123
00:09:19,545 --> 00:09:21,661
Never seen so many cruisers.
124
00:09:21,825 --> 00:09:23,383
We're the only criminals left.
125
00:09:23,545 --> 00:09:26,503
No way we're driving out of this.
It's time we disappeared.
126
00:09:40,145 --> 00:09:43,342
Yeah, I'm moving, Angel-cakes.
Might not look like it. But inside...
127
00:09:43,545 --> 00:09:45,934
...where it counts,
I'm running full speed ahead.
128
00:09:46,105 --> 00:09:48,414
Won't take them long to figure out.
129
00:09:52,225 --> 00:09:53,499
One minute.
130
00:09:53,665 --> 00:09:56,463
No one under her control
knows these tunnels better than you.
131
00:09:56,625 --> 00:09:58,820
- It should buy us some time.
GUNN: Time to do what?
132
00:09:58,985 --> 00:10:02,022
Get all stanky and starve to death?
I mean, what are we doing?
133
00:10:02,185 --> 00:10:04,460
I don't know what we'll do.
I don't have a plan.
134
00:10:04,625 --> 00:10:07,662
This whole "Jasmine world order" thing
took me by surprise.
135
00:10:07,825 --> 00:10:09,895
- I ain't eating no rats.
- Good, neither am I.
136
00:10:10,065 --> 00:10:13,137
- All right, plan's coming together.
- Glad to see you're on board.
137
00:10:14,105 --> 00:10:17,142
Oh, God, all the chasing
and the chaos...
138
00:10:17,305 --> 00:10:20,536
- Cordelia.
- I can't believe I almost forgot about her.
139
00:10:21,065 --> 00:10:23,021
Do it.
140
00:10:24,025 --> 00:10:26,061
Forget about her.
141
00:10:26,265 --> 00:10:28,574
We all have to now.
We don't have a choice.
142
00:10:29,785 --> 00:10:31,776
The minute's up.
143
00:10:44,145 --> 00:10:46,136
[SKITTERING]
144
00:11:00,025 --> 00:11:01,299
Connor.
145
00:11:03,385 --> 00:11:04,659
CONNOR:
Look.
146
00:11:04,865 --> 00:11:07,333
JASMINE:
I know. I saw it through you.
147
00:11:07,505 --> 00:11:09,700
It was them, wasn't it?
148
00:11:12,065 --> 00:11:14,863
It horrifies me to see
what they're capable of...
149
00:11:15,665 --> 00:11:18,054
...how far they've let their hate
take them.
150
00:11:19,945 --> 00:11:22,334
They cut into her
while she lay sleeping.
151
00:11:23,625 --> 00:11:26,344
Her precious blood stolen...
152
00:11:26,505 --> 00:11:30,783
...for their black, deceitful,
cowardly magic.
153
00:11:31,545 --> 00:11:34,013
They're always using magic.
154
00:11:35,945 --> 00:11:37,219
Leave me.
155
00:11:38,465 --> 00:11:41,218
I want to be alone with my mother.
156
00:12:07,465 --> 00:12:10,741
You look a little down, sugarplum.
Is it Cordy?
157
00:12:12,305 --> 00:12:16,662
- I can't. I don't care what he says.
- I know, kitten.
158
00:12:16,825 --> 00:12:19,942
But underneath that blood-feeding,
creature-of-the-night facade...
159
00:12:20,105 --> 00:12:22,380
...he's heartless lately.
ANGEL: Hearts get in the way.
160
00:12:22,545 --> 00:12:25,378
- Hearing as good as ever, though.
ANGEL: If we don't gut ourselves...
161
00:12:25,545 --> 00:12:29,424
...burn out everything inside that gave
her power over us, then we're lost.
162
00:12:29,785 --> 00:12:32,857
LORNE: I hate to say it,
but I've been lost for, like, two hours.
163
00:12:34,745 --> 00:12:36,258
Still, I miss her.
164
00:12:36,745 --> 00:12:39,623
I miss the warmth
and the knowing what's right...
165
00:12:39,785 --> 00:12:42,424
...and that you're
doing it just by loving her.
166
00:12:42,585 --> 00:12:44,257
Tough drug to kick cold turkey.
167
00:12:44,505 --> 00:12:48,862
I remember the first time she took me
aside, that fight at the bowling alley.
168
00:12:50,385 --> 00:12:55,254
Me, pale, frail Winifred Burkle,
sitting with a goddess.
169
00:12:55,425 --> 00:12:57,381
She was asking me
what her name should be.
170
00:12:57,545 --> 00:13:01,538
It seems strange now,
a being of her immeasurable age...
171
00:13:01,705 --> 00:13:03,536
...you'd think
she'd already have a name.
172
00:13:03,705 --> 00:13:06,344
Maybe it was embarrassing,
like Hester or Peanut.
173
00:13:07,545 --> 00:13:09,376
[YELLING]
174
00:13:14,105 --> 00:13:15,982
GUNN:
I gotcha.
175
00:13:16,705 --> 00:13:18,696
[CLANGING]
176
00:13:30,465 --> 00:13:31,978
- Wes.
- I'm all right.
177
00:13:32,145 --> 00:13:34,659
No, you're not all right
till I say you're all right.
178
00:13:34,985 --> 00:13:36,816
- Holly, you good?
- Yes.
179
00:13:38,305 --> 00:13:39,863
- Trip.
- Yeah.
180
00:13:40,425 --> 00:13:43,019
That ugly beastie so much
as breathes wrong, stick him.
181
00:13:43,585 --> 00:13:45,257
Ugly... Hey.
182
00:13:47,105 --> 00:13:50,381
You know, I kind of have a thing
about people pointing sharp, wooden...
183
00:13:51,905 --> 00:13:53,384
Give me that.
184
00:14:00,825 --> 00:14:03,100
Enough! Enough.
185
00:14:04,345 --> 00:14:05,937
- You okay?
- Yeah.
186
00:14:06,145 --> 00:14:09,217
- It's okay. They're not under her power.
- Her who?
187
00:14:09,385 --> 00:14:11,455
- We'll ask the questions.
- Angel, are you sure?
188
00:14:11,625 --> 00:14:15,254
They're not fighting like a well-oiled,
mind-controlled army of love, are they?
189
00:14:15,425 --> 00:14:17,700
- No, more like a bunch of little punks.
- Punks?
190
00:14:17,865 --> 00:14:19,503
Gunn, let him go.
191
00:14:22,985 --> 00:14:24,259
Gunn?
192
00:14:27,065 --> 00:14:29,704
- Charles Gunn.
- I say you could use my name?
193
00:14:29,865 --> 00:14:32,538
I say you could use my ride
without paying the piper?
194
00:14:32,705 --> 00:14:34,855
What? Paying the...?
195
00:14:36,185 --> 00:14:39,257
Tommy Golden's little brother?
Randall?
196
00:14:39,425 --> 00:14:41,143
Little ass Randall Golden.
197
00:14:41,305 --> 00:14:43,535
This punk stole my car
when he was 12 years old.
198
00:14:44,225 --> 00:14:47,661
- What are you doing down here, man?
- Like I said, son, we'll ask the questions.
199
00:14:47,825 --> 00:14:49,816
[SKITTERING, MOANING]
200
00:14:52,945 --> 00:14:55,698
Starting with, what the hell was that?
201
00:14:56,145 --> 00:14:57,737
It's back.
202
00:15:13,505 --> 00:15:14,858
I'm sorry.
203
00:15:16,625 --> 00:15:18,183
I just couldn't be...
204
00:15:21,305 --> 00:15:22,579
Cordy?
205
00:15:23,065 --> 00:15:27,695
Connor, Cordelia's blood
is a danger to us.
206
00:15:27,865 --> 00:15:30,618
If she falls into hateful hands,
the hate can spread.
207
00:15:30,785 --> 00:15:34,414
- But where is she?
- She's where I want her to be.
208
00:15:41,665 --> 00:15:43,735
And so are you.
209
00:15:44,865 --> 00:15:46,457
Now, come.
210
00:15:51,985 --> 00:15:53,259
Connor.
211
00:16:08,625 --> 00:16:11,662
GUNN: Wow. Really like what
you've done with the place.
212
00:16:11,985 --> 00:16:13,816
LORNE:
Yes, this is homey.
213
00:16:21,625 --> 00:16:23,775
ANGEL:
So it's secure?
214
00:16:23,945 --> 00:16:25,981
It's held so far.
215
00:16:26,345 --> 00:16:27,664
Uh-huh.
216
00:16:29,505 --> 00:16:31,143
Held against what?
217
00:16:31,305 --> 00:16:34,217
Don't know exactly.
Never have gotten a clean shot.
218
00:16:34,385 --> 00:16:36,137
It's not like anything I've ever seen.
219
00:16:36,305 --> 00:16:39,103
Golden's brother used to soldier
in my crew back in the days.
220
00:16:39,265 --> 00:16:40,744
Then he broke off and went solo.
221
00:16:40,905 --> 00:16:43,135
Tommy was running our unit
when the sun went out.
222
00:16:43,305 --> 00:16:46,536
We stayed topside as long as we could,
tried to hold some ground...
223
00:16:46,945 --> 00:16:48,583
...but there were too many of them.
224
00:16:48,745 --> 00:16:51,623
We go out every day
to check the tracks...
225
00:16:53,185 --> 00:16:58,578
They're your crew, aren't they?
You're the leader.
226
00:16:58,745 --> 00:17:00,019
I'm Matthew.
227
00:17:02,665 --> 00:17:06,624
It's okay. All the other ways in
are grated off.
228
00:17:07,225 --> 00:17:08,704
We checked.
229
00:17:08,865 --> 00:17:11,333
Well, now I'm checking.
230
00:17:13,905 --> 00:17:15,543
He's so young.
231
00:17:15,705 --> 00:17:19,778
We found him in a pileup on La Brea.
Vamps laid tire traps on the road...
232
00:17:19,945 --> 00:17:22,175
...having themselves
a car-wreck picnic.
233
00:17:22,825 --> 00:17:24,463
He watched them murder his parents.
234
00:17:24,625 --> 00:17:26,741
They were coming after him
when we showed up.
235
00:17:31,105 --> 00:17:34,177
Matthew, you got any water
in this place?
236
00:17:34,345 --> 00:17:36,984
Yes. We tapped a clean water pipe
right over here.
237
00:17:42,585 --> 00:17:44,064
Anyway, I knew about this place.
238
00:17:44,225 --> 00:17:46,898
Used to crash up here nights
when the missions were full.
239
00:17:47,065 --> 00:17:50,535
So we hit a supermarket that hadn't
burnt down yet and got some supplies.
240
00:17:50,785 --> 00:17:52,980
We went under.
Been down here ever since.
241
00:17:53,145 --> 00:17:54,624
About two weeks and some change.
242
00:17:54,785 --> 00:17:56,457
No offense,
but two weeks here...
243
00:17:56,625 --> 00:17:58,741
...and I'd be ready to move back
with my mother.
244
00:17:58,905 --> 00:18:00,623
Yeah, well, we were holding our own.
245
00:18:00,785 --> 00:18:04,221
Occasional baddie looking for a place
to sleep. Nothing we couldn't handle.
246
00:18:04,385 --> 00:18:07,104
Till that thing out there
moved into our territory.
247
00:18:07,265 --> 00:18:09,221
It's been picking us off ever since.
248
00:18:09,705 --> 00:18:13,698
It got Tommy almost a week ago.
He was out resetting the traps.
249
00:18:21,465 --> 00:18:22,784
Whose blood is that?
250
00:18:24,505 --> 00:18:26,063
Somebody I knew.
251
00:18:31,785 --> 00:18:34,982
Somebody who tried
to do bad stuff to my friends.
252
00:18:38,705 --> 00:18:42,015
- I can't believe you stayed down here.
HOLLY: Worse up there, ain't it?
253
00:18:42,345 --> 00:18:45,781
The world is ending.
What does it matter where we go?
254
00:18:45,945 --> 00:18:50,621
Besides, whatever that evil son
of a bitch is, it killed our people...
255
00:18:51,065 --> 00:18:54,740
...it killed my brother.
We're going to kill him right back.
256
00:18:56,225 --> 00:19:00,855
It's weird, really, us running
into you like this. I mean, we...
257
00:19:02,305 --> 00:19:04,739
We're professional monster killers.
258
00:19:08,425 --> 00:19:09,938
Or we were.
259
00:19:10,105 --> 00:19:12,938
Are, Fred. We are.
260
00:19:13,945 --> 00:19:18,177
- Hey! That belonged to Tommy.
- Now it belongs to me.
261
00:19:18,345 --> 00:19:21,417
Let's go get professional
on this evil son of a bitch's ass.
262
00:19:24,425 --> 00:19:25,983
I heard that.
263
00:19:26,145 --> 00:19:27,464
JASMINE:
Yeah.
264
00:19:27,865 --> 00:19:31,096
Of course. Drop by anytime.
265
00:19:31,625 --> 00:19:33,297
Thank you for calling.
266
00:19:38,065 --> 00:19:40,135
Police lost them hours ago.
267
00:19:41,145 --> 00:19:44,103
Let me go out.
I'll bring them down, I promise.
268
00:19:44,305 --> 00:19:48,344
Soon. Soon you'll go out
with all of my strength behind you.
269
00:19:49,185 --> 00:19:51,494
But first, we have to celebrate.
270
00:19:52,265 --> 00:19:55,780
That was the governor on the phone,
very agreeable.
271
00:19:56,025 --> 00:19:58,823
He's dissolving
his administration tonight.
272
00:19:59,425 --> 00:20:01,541
The time of the politician is over.
273
00:20:01,705 --> 00:20:04,173
This state now answers to me.
274
00:20:07,745 --> 00:20:12,341
Oh, it's happening.
Don't you feel it?
275
00:20:13,305 --> 00:20:19,699
This world is about to kneel before me
and shed all its avarice, all its woe.
276
00:20:19,865 --> 00:20:23,255
I will free them from the loneliness...
277
00:20:25,665 --> 00:20:28,577
...from the empty horror of their lives.
278
00:20:31,825 --> 00:20:33,577
They won't know what hit them.
279
00:20:34,345 --> 00:20:36,142
I'm sure of that.
280
00:20:36,305 --> 00:20:39,854
And you'll be there at my side.
281
00:20:40,465 --> 00:20:44,583
We will live in a palace built
by the love of billions.
282
00:20:44,745 --> 00:20:48,784
It will make the Pyramids of Giza look
like headstones in a pauper's graveyard.
283
00:20:50,865 --> 00:20:53,015
We'll be a family, Connor.
284
00:20:54,305 --> 00:20:58,344
Together, as one, forever.
285
00:20:59,385 --> 00:21:02,138
It's going to be beautiful.
286
00:21:02,345 --> 00:21:03,619
Yes.
287
00:21:10,505 --> 00:21:12,461
Then why aren't you smiling?
288
00:21:19,905 --> 00:21:21,463
I don't know.
289
00:21:21,865 --> 00:21:24,015
I think I do.
290
00:21:26,065 --> 00:21:28,704
To belong,
to truly be a part of something...
291
00:21:28,865 --> 00:21:32,335
...you have to surrender
to it completely.
292
00:21:33,865 --> 00:21:37,983
- Cordelia has done that, but you...
- I want to, really.
293
00:21:38,625 --> 00:21:41,935
There's a part of you
that you've kept from me.
294
00:21:42,705 --> 00:21:44,377
Your pain.
295
00:21:45,185 --> 00:21:46,698
I don't understand.
296
00:21:47,305 --> 00:21:50,456
Pain has been the only constant
in your life.
297
00:21:50,785 --> 00:21:54,255
The one thing
that has never abandoned you.
298
00:21:58,825 --> 00:22:04,536
You think that pain is yours
to keep and bear alone.
299
00:22:05,145 --> 00:22:06,624
But it's not.
300
00:22:10,425 --> 00:22:11,824
I want it.
301
00:22:13,145 --> 00:22:17,423
I want everything you are, Connor.
302
00:22:19,945 --> 00:22:21,537
Father.
303
00:22:22,945 --> 00:22:24,344
Let it go.
304
00:22:26,185 --> 00:22:27,982
Let me have it.
305
00:22:31,785 --> 00:22:33,377
Okay.
306
00:22:41,225 --> 00:22:42,578
Okay.
307
00:22:50,145 --> 00:22:52,500
FRED: They're just kids.
- Strength in numbers.
308
00:22:52,665 --> 00:22:54,542
- Angel...
- They just want to strike back...
309
00:22:54,705 --> 00:22:57,378
...at something, anything.
I know how they feel.
310
00:22:57,545 --> 00:22:59,661
I ever tell you I suck at sports?
311
00:23:05,385 --> 00:23:07,979
This is where Tommy got taken.
312
00:23:08,305 --> 00:23:10,773
- What's that smell?
- It's ammonia.
313
00:23:10,945 --> 00:23:12,537
[GROWLING, YELLING]
314
00:23:12,745 --> 00:23:14,258
MATTHEW:
Golden!
315
00:23:16,345 --> 00:23:18,336
[SWORD CLASHING]
316
00:23:30,625 --> 00:23:32,502
ANGEL:
Matthew, it's okay.
317
00:23:32,665 --> 00:23:34,178
Matt!
318
00:23:34,345 --> 00:23:35,664
Matthew!
319
00:23:35,825 --> 00:23:37,816
[SCREAMING]
320
00:23:39,025 --> 00:23:41,016
[SKITTERING, WHINING]
321
00:23:42,185 --> 00:23:44,494
Golden? Sweetie.
322
00:23:44,665 --> 00:23:47,702
- lf Matthew reaches the surface...
- We'll get him. Come on!
323
00:23:47,865 --> 00:23:49,139
FRED:
Matthew!
324
00:23:49,545 --> 00:23:52,059
That thing is really pissing me off.
Lorne, Wes.
325
00:23:52,225 --> 00:23:55,058
- Yeah?
- Where's Wes?
326
00:24:01,745 --> 00:24:04,179
We loved her first.
327
00:24:10,105 --> 00:24:12,619
LORNE: It got Wes?
- It must have looped around behind us.
328
00:24:12,785 --> 00:24:15,538
It knows these tunnels better than me,
and it's fast.
329
00:24:15,745 --> 00:24:18,896
I'll track it down.
Lorne, take the others back to the fort.
330
00:24:19,065 --> 00:24:21,579
- Wait for Gunn and Fred.
- lf you insist.
331
00:24:21,985 --> 00:24:24,863
Uh-uh, Dracula, not okay.
332
00:24:29,305 --> 00:24:31,899
All right, fine, you loved her first.
333
00:24:32,225 --> 00:24:35,854
Before your kind was,
my kind loved her.
334
00:24:36,025 --> 00:24:40,064
Stood stone on stone, built the temple...
335
00:24:40,225 --> 00:24:42,375
...always making ready.
336
00:24:44,145 --> 00:24:46,136
[WHINING]
337
00:24:48,225 --> 00:24:50,659
But she came here.
338
00:24:51,465 --> 00:24:53,103
She?
339
00:24:53,625 --> 00:24:56,742
- Jasmine?
- Eh?
340
00:24:56,905 --> 00:24:59,817
Jasmine. That's what we call her.
341
00:25:00,145 --> 00:25:03,694
The superior being...
342
00:25:04,545 --> 00:25:06,342
...that you loved first.
343
00:25:07,025 --> 00:25:09,744
You name her. You filthy little mice!
344
00:25:10,705 --> 00:25:13,503
She is the Devourer...
345
00:25:15,345 --> 00:25:17,575
...the song...
346
00:25:18,105 --> 00:25:21,336
...the peace, the whole.
347
00:25:25,385 --> 00:25:29,298
And you try to name her.
348
00:25:35,425 --> 00:25:37,734
Work to do.
349
00:25:38,545 --> 00:25:40,376
We loved her first.
350
00:25:55,785 --> 00:25:59,095
And how does your kind define love?
351
00:25:59,625 --> 00:26:02,822
Same as all bodies.
Same as everywheres.
352
00:26:04,945 --> 00:26:07,015
Love is sacrifice.
353
00:26:07,665 --> 00:26:08,984
GUNN:
Matthew!
354
00:26:09,705 --> 00:26:11,741
- Matthew!
FRED: Matthew?
355
00:26:12,145 --> 00:26:15,057
- You sure he went this way?
- Heard splashing. It's gotta be him.
356
00:26:15,225 --> 00:26:17,420
Unless it was one
of those skittering creatures.
357
00:26:17,585 --> 00:26:20,338
Well, it better skitter out of my way.
I ain't in the mood.
358
00:26:20,505 --> 00:26:22,814
FRED:
Or it could just be rats.
359
00:26:24,345 --> 00:26:26,905
Now, what did you have to go
and say that for? Damn!
360
00:26:27,065 --> 00:26:28,623
Sorry, I wasn't...
361
00:26:28,825 --> 00:26:32,022
I'm sure if it's not Matthew,
it's probably some horrible monster...
362
00:26:32,185 --> 00:26:34,255
...but definitely not...
- Look at us...
363
00:26:34,785 --> 00:26:37,504
...where we are.
I mean, yesterday we were happy.
364
00:26:37,665 --> 00:26:40,862
Happier than I thought possible.
Now we're trudging through sewage...
365
00:26:41,025 --> 00:26:43,414
...hunting some kid to drag him
back down here...
366
00:26:43,585 --> 00:26:46,543
...so he doesn't find out
a Shangri-La-La-Land up there.
367
00:26:46,705 --> 00:26:49,742
He's scared, Charles.
Think how he feels.
368
00:26:49,905 --> 00:26:52,465
You heard Angel.
Feelings don't enter into it anymore.
369
00:26:52,625 --> 00:26:54,343
That the world we're fighting for?
370
00:26:54,505 --> 00:26:58,100
The right to be heartless
and uncaring shells, to be dead inside?
371
00:26:58,265 --> 00:27:00,938
We'll be dead period
if Jasmine gets ahold of that kid.
372
00:27:01,105 --> 00:27:04,302
- We're fighting for our survival.
- That's not enough, not for me.
373
00:27:04,465 --> 00:27:06,933
Maybe you can turn off your
feelings like Angel can...
374
00:27:07,105 --> 00:27:08,743
...leave those we care about behind.
375
00:27:08,905 --> 00:27:11,214
You had no trouble turning off
your emotions when...
376
00:27:11,385 --> 00:27:13,580
- When what?
- Nothing.
377
00:27:13,745 --> 00:27:15,497
- What were you gonna say?
- Forget it.
378
00:27:15,665 --> 00:27:18,657
- When did I ever...?
- When you and I killed a man.
379
00:27:19,785 --> 00:27:21,264
I mean, when I did.
380
00:27:21,945 --> 00:27:23,981
- We did.
- Whatever.
381
00:27:24,145 --> 00:27:28,138
When the circumstances called for it,
you did what you thought you had to.
382
00:27:28,305 --> 00:27:30,614
It didn't matter
what anybody else thought.
383
00:27:33,345 --> 00:27:36,735
You're right about all of it
except for one thing.
384
00:27:37,265 --> 00:27:40,940
What we did, I felt it...
385
00:27:41,105 --> 00:27:43,255
...every bit of it.
386
00:27:44,025 --> 00:27:46,585
Sometimes when I allow myself
to think about it...
387
00:27:46,745 --> 00:27:49,623
...it eats me up inside.
388
00:27:50,305 --> 00:27:51,704
Yeah, me too.
389
00:27:53,185 --> 00:27:57,576
Well, I don't know about you, but I'd
take that over being a shell any day.
390
00:28:01,985 --> 00:28:05,864
Come on. There's a scared kid
out there we gotta find.
391
00:28:10,425 --> 00:28:13,144
You think I didn't see that back there?
You're one of them.
392
00:28:13,745 --> 00:28:16,578
- Golden, it's not like that.
- He's telling the truth.
393
00:28:16,745 --> 00:28:21,136
Excuse me, not talking to horned demon,
talking to vampire. Thank you.
394
00:28:21,305 --> 00:28:24,854
All right, what you saw,
yes, I can't deny that.
395
00:28:25,025 --> 00:28:27,903
- But he only drinks pig's blood.
- Lorne.
396
00:28:28,065 --> 00:28:30,704
It's true. You gotta give
an undead fella points for that.
397
00:28:30,865 --> 00:28:33,698
Unless you're into the whole
kosher thing, but you're not...
398
00:28:33,865 --> 00:28:37,653
Well, you don't look...
Okay, horned demon shutting up.
399
00:28:37,825 --> 00:28:40,180
I don't blame you
for feeling this way...
400
00:28:40,345 --> 00:28:42,734
...but I'm not going
to justify my existence to you.
401
00:28:42,905 --> 00:28:46,261
I wouldn't be able to.
But what I can do...
402
00:28:46,425 --> 00:28:49,337
...is take that spear away from you
and snap it into kindling...
403
00:28:49,545 --> 00:28:53,299
...and break your neck
in half the time it would take for you...
404
00:28:53,465 --> 00:28:55,979
...to give it a good push.
405
00:28:56,825 --> 00:29:00,500
Or you could step aside
and let me go help my friend.
406
00:29:03,545 --> 00:29:04,864
[GRUNTING]
407
00:29:40,225 --> 00:29:41,658
WESLEY:
That door is open.
408
00:29:42,145 --> 00:29:43,703
Yes.
409
00:29:43,985 --> 00:29:46,021
Aren't you worried I'll just run away?
410
00:29:47,105 --> 00:29:50,142
Not worried. Good at catching furries.
411
00:29:50,505 --> 00:29:53,065
Yes, clearly.
412
00:29:55,705 --> 00:29:57,536
So...
413
00:29:57,705 --> 00:30:00,265
...not from around here, are you?
414
00:30:00,825 --> 00:30:02,224
No.
415
00:30:04,105 --> 00:30:05,982
Other world.
416
00:30:06,225 --> 00:30:08,455
Older world.
417
00:30:14,145 --> 00:30:18,263
You go. Go on. Use my key, visit.
418
00:30:18,985 --> 00:30:22,660
What we breathing there
burn out little mouse lungs...
419
00:30:22,825 --> 00:30:24,781
...before you can make a peep.
420
00:30:25,385 --> 00:30:26,659
Fair enough.
421
00:30:26,865 --> 00:30:30,096
"Fair enough."
"Fair enough-enough."
422
00:30:31,825 --> 00:30:37,297
- Are you preparing a spell?
- This blood magic. Flesh magic.
423
00:30:37,585 --> 00:30:40,782
Older than words. More, much power.
424
00:30:40,945 --> 00:30:44,654
This magic she will hear. She will
hear and remember her true ones.
425
00:30:45,145 --> 00:30:48,217
- So no incantations, then?
- No words.
426
00:30:49,145 --> 00:30:52,979
She give no care about words.
Word magic.
427
00:30:53,145 --> 00:30:54,942
Really?
428
00:30:56,105 --> 00:30:58,255
There is only one word she...
429
00:31:02,865 --> 00:31:05,698
One word? What word does
she give care about?
430
00:31:05,865 --> 00:31:09,699
You is talking meat.
Don't make me come down there.
431
00:31:12,865 --> 00:31:17,143
My God. What is it with you, man?
This is disgusting.
432
00:31:17,305 --> 00:31:20,183
- You!
- Just drop the cliche, serial-killer crap...
433
00:31:20,345 --> 00:31:22,939
...and stake me already. Please.
434
00:31:23,105 --> 00:31:28,225
I tear your guts all inside out.
I stitch your guts every all over.
435
00:31:28,385 --> 00:31:31,138
- Why don't you go dead.
- Why don't you go fu...
436
00:31:31,825 --> 00:31:33,144
[YELLS]
437
00:31:35,385 --> 00:31:37,182
More talky meat.
438
00:31:42,025 --> 00:31:45,540
You can't kill him.
Not that way.
439
00:31:46,385 --> 00:31:48,615
He's already dead.
He's a vampire.
440
00:31:52,465 --> 00:31:55,616
Vampire. Like the one
with the angry steel?
441
00:31:55,785 --> 00:31:57,218
Angry steel?
442
00:31:57,905 --> 00:32:01,534
The one that hurt me
in the tunnels back there.
443
00:32:03,105 --> 00:32:04,743
Angel.
444
00:32:04,945 --> 00:32:06,264
Eh?
445
00:32:06,425 --> 00:32:09,542
That's his name,
the one who attacked you.
446
00:32:10,225 --> 00:32:14,457
You creatures, throwing your names
all over all the time.
447
00:32:14,625 --> 00:32:17,822
That's why you are so weak.
Too many are knowing your names.
448
00:32:18,305 --> 00:32:20,216
Takes your power away.
449
00:32:20,385 --> 00:32:23,343
It doesn't work that way here.
With us...
450
00:32:27,585 --> 00:32:29,735
So that's the word, isn't it?
451
00:32:29,905 --> 00:32:32,783
- The word she gives care about.
- Shut.
452
00:32:32,945 --> 00:32:35,937
- It's her name.
- Shut, shut, shut!
453
00:32:37,745 --> 00:32:40,179
Shut, shut, shut!
454
00:32:51,065 --> 00:32:52,464
FRED:
Matthew.
455
00:32:54,225 --> 00:32:57,023
It's okay. We don't want to hurt you.
We just want to talk...
456
00:32:57,185 --> 00:32:58,698
...but it's not safe here.
457
00:32:59,385 --> 00:33:01,660
You didn't tell me the sun
came back out.
458
00:33:01,825 --> 00:33:04,817
Oh, yeah, forgot to tell you.
Sun came back out.
459
00:33:05,305 --> 00:33:07,739
Angel, he's a vampire,
like the ones who...
460
00:33:07,905 --> 00:33:10,897
We can't explain it up here,
but we're the good guys, I swear.
461
00:33:11,065 --> 00:33:12,976
- And we need you to come with us.
- No.
462
00:33:13,265 --> 00:33:16,257
- No, I won't go.
- Sorry, son, but we ain't asking.
463
00:33:16,425 --> 00:33:18,620
Help! Help!
464
00:33:19,945 --> 00:33:21,219
Fred.
465
00:33:23,025 --> 00:33:26,415
- Fred!
- What?
466
00:33:26,585 --> 00:33:28,337
Get his feet.
467
00:33:31,025 --> 00:33:35,382
She has a name, and it has power over
her. That's why she keeps it a secret.
468
00:33:35,585 --> 00:33:37,860
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
La, la, la, la!
469
00:33:38,025 --> 00:33:39,299
Not listening!
470
00:33:39,465 --> 00:33:42,741
And somehow, her true name prevents
her from choosing a false one...
471
00:33:42,905 --> 00:33:44,577
...so one of us had to do it.
472
00:33:49,025 --> 00:33:50,299
What it matters, eh?
473
00:33:50,465 --> 00:33:54,014
Eh, talky meat?
I no keep the name.
474
00:33:54,185 --> 00:33:56,938
High priest keep the name.
475
00:33:57,425 --> 00:34:00,303
And you about to go dead.
476
00:34:00,465 --> 00:34:03,696
About to be a smear
on my flesh spell.
477
00:34:04,785 --> 00:34:08,539
I just messenger
from the ones who love truly.
478
00:34:08,865 --> 00:34:12,744
Well, then, I guess it's time
to shoot the messenger.
479
00:34:13,145 --> 00:34:17,184
Or, you know, chop the messenger
into little, bitty pieces. Whatever.
480
00:34:21,905 --> 00:34:26,535
And that's why when we use
words like "ugly-ass" and "beastie"...
481
00:34:26,745 --> 00:34:29,259
...we can sometimes do more
damage than we intend to.
482
00:34:29,465 --> 00:34:34,061
It ain't all about sticks and stones,
my young friends. That's all.
483
00:34:34,425 --> 00:34:39,021
A little life lesson, one to grow on.
Knowing. Knowing is half...
484
00:34:39,185 --> 00:34:40,538
Shut up.
485
00:34:41,225 --> 00:34:42,544
HOLLY:
Matthew.
486
00:34:46,865 --> 00:34:49,823
GOLDEN: What the hell happened, man?
- He'll be okay.
487
00:34:51,585 --> 00:34:53,462
I'm sorry. We...
We had no other...
488
00:34:53,625 --> 00:34:55,741
- Fred.
- What is she talking about?
489
00:34:56,185 --> 00:34:58,779
- Nothing.
- I'm not liking what I'm not hearing.
490
00:34:58,945 --> 00:35:01,300
What did you do to my boy?
491
00:35:01,505 --> 00:35:03,621
There's a new world
of bad going on upstairs...
492
00:35:03,785 --> 00:35:05,741
...and your boy was walking
into it blind.
493
00:35:05,905 --> 00:35:08,180
We did what we had to,
and I ain't interested...
494
00:35:08,345 --> 00:35:10,461
...in your opinion on the subject.
495
00:35:10,665 --> 00:35:12,656
[LAUGHING]
496
00:35:14,545 --> 00:35:15,819
Matty?
497
00:35:15,985 --> 00:35:17,862
- Honey?
- Oh, no.
498
00:35:19,265 --> 00:35:20,584
[SPEAKING IN
JASMINE'S VOICE]
499
00:35:20,785 --> 00:35:23,458
I see you.
500
00:35:23,985 --> 00:35:26,863
Holly, look what they did
to Matthew.
501
00:35:27,025 --> 00:35:30,176
They hit him again and again
until he lost all consciousness.
502
00:35:31,665 --> 00:35:35,294
- He just wanted to see the sun.
- Fred, Lorne, it's time to go.
503
00:35:35,545 --> 00:35:39,538
Golden, my love,
don't you want to hit them?
504
00:35:39,705 --> 00:35:42,503
Don't you want to kill them?
505
00:35:42,665 --> 00:35:46,578
You know, that just might
make my whole damn day.
506
00:35:46,745 --> 00:35:48,542
GUNN:
Go!
507
00:36:03,065 --> 00:36:04,384
[SPEAKING IN
JASMINE'S VOICE]
508
00:36:04,585 --> 00:36:06,416
Hello again, children.
509
00:36:06,785 --> 00:36:08,901
I believe you've met my father.
510
00:36:16,585 --> 00:36:18,576
[GRUNTING]
511
00:36:21,705 --> 00:36:23,024
[YELLS]
512
00:36:23,225 --> 00:36:25,136
Little mice.
513
00:36:25,745 --> 00:36:28,703
They always soft inside.
514
00:36:30,225 --> 00:36:32,341
Wretched little...
515
00:36:34,825 --> 00:36:36,702
Time to go dead, mouse.
516
00:36:36,905 --> 00:36:38,896
[YELLING]
517
00:36:40,865 --> 00:36:43,174
Wait your turn, talky!
518
00:36:44,145 --> 00:36:45,464
[YELLS]
519
00:36:45,865 --> 00:36:48,299
A little soft yourself in there.
520
00:36:53,825 --> 00:36:57,181
Devour this meat...
521
00:36:57,545 --> 00:37:01,538
...I give unto thee.
522
00:37:04,145 --> 00:37:07,774
That creature, he came from a world
that's worshipped Jasmine for millennia.
523
00:37:07,945 --> 00:37:11,858
- A world that we can reach through this.
- What?
524
00:37:13,225 --> 00:37:16,535
I think the universe just handed us
our first break.
525
00:37:17,105 --> 00:37:18,538
LORNE:
I really hate today!
526
00:37:18,705 --> 00:37:21,538
More worried about tomorrow myself.
Come on!
527
00:37:21,865 --> 00:37:25,574
No inscriptions.
No markings of any kind.
528
00:37:25,945 --> 00:37:27,822
No moving parts, as far as I can tell.
529
00:37:27,985 --> 00:37:31,421
- So this high priest holds the true name.
- Exactly.
530
00:37:35,385 --> 00:37:37,853
What else do we know about him?
531
00:37:38,025 --> 00:37:40,619
I'm just guessing
that he's bigger and meaner...
532
00:37:40,785 --> 00:37:42,901
...than our big,
mean friend over there.
533
00:37:44,105 --> 00:37:47,017
Wouldn't surprise me.
What about...?
534
00:37:48,385 --> 00:37:50,501
Wes, something is going down.
535
00:37:50,825 --> 00:37:52,099
Something?
536
00:37:53,225 --> 00:37:55,341
Something bad.
537
00:37:55,505 --> 00:37:57,097
Connor.
538
00:38:06,185 --> 00:38:07,459
Angel.
539
00:38:10,225 --> 00:38:11,499
Angel.
540
00:38:11,825 --> 00:38:13,304
FRED: Angel.
- God, are we dead yet?
541
00:38:13,465 --> 00:38:14,864
ANGEL:
Guys!
542
00:38:18,825 --> 00:38:21,214
No words. No word magic.
543
00:38:21,945 --> 00:38:24,413
- Angel, it's Connor. He's here.
- I know.
544
00:38:24,585 --> 00:38:27,145
LORNE:
And the National Guard, I think.
545
00:38:29,425 --> 00:38:31,939
- No!
- No word magic. Powerless.
546
00:38:32,105 --> 00:38:34,221
Much more power...
547
00:38:34,865 --> 00:38:36,503
...in blood magic.
548
00:38:44,385 --> 00:38:45,659
WESLEY:
Angel, I got it!
549
00:38:47,985 --> 00:38:51,421
- Okay, I'll hold it. You guys, get going.
- No, we can't go, only you.
550
00:38:51,585 --> 00:38:53,143
ANGEL:
What are you talking about?
551
00:38:54,465 --> 00:38:56,933
That thing's world,
the atmosphere will kill us.
552
00:38:58,305 --> 00:39:00,136
We can't help there.
553
00:39:00,305 --> 00:39:03,615
But someone who knows the truth
has to live through this.
554
00:39:03,785 --> 00:39:07,061
- Angel, that's you.
- I can't.
555
00:39:08,105 --> 00:39:10,778
Hearts get in the way, right?
556
00:39:17,785 --> 00:39:19,821
Angel, wait!
557
00:39:31,625 --> 00:39:34,344
- We can't hold it.
- Time for the big fight scene.
558
00:39:34,545 --> 00:39:35,898
CONNOR:
Move aside.
559
00:39:36,065 --> 00:39:39,375
Count of three.
One. Two.
560
00:40:18,545 --> 00:40:20,536
[SKITTERING]
561
00:40:33,185 --> 00:40:34,743
Oh, hell.
